Brian O’Donovan was RTÉ’s Washington Correspondent during a tumultuous time for the US. Donald Trump’s chaotic and controversial presidency dominated the political agenda. His handling of the Black Lives Matter protest movement and the Covid-19 pandemic saw the gulf between an already divided America grow even wider. Brian had a front row seat on it all and reported on major events including the election of Joe Biden and the storming of the Capitol Building. His memoir of his time in the US, Four Years in the Cauldron, provides an intriguing look at an extraordinary time in US politics.

Brian grew up in Farran, Co Cork and his father Jim is originally from Ardfield. Brian studied Communications in DCU and in a career spanning more than 20 years he has worked as a broadcast journalist for Red FM, TV3 and RTÉ. He is currently RTÉ's Work & Technology Correspondent. Brian lives in Dublin with his wife Joanna and daughters Lucy and Erin.
